Badge by Linda Silvestri

(ETA: THE DEADLINE TO SIGN UP FOR THE 12 x 12 in 2012 challenge is now passed.  If, after you read this post, you have more questions, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions post)

Twelve complete picture book drafts. Twelve months.  2012.  Are you with me?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write one picture book per month for each of the twelve months of 2012.  This means a first draft: beginning, middle, end.  NOT a submission-ready piece.  Sounds easy right?  It sounds easy to me, too.  But when I looked back on my writing output from 2011, I discovered that I only completed one draft from all 30 of the PiBoIdMo ideas I came up with in 2010.  I did draft, edit and revise other pieces I had in the works, but I am not content with my overall 2011 results. So I decided to challenge myself to write many more in 2012, and I figured, why not invite others to join me so we can support and encourage each other along the way?

I have been floored by the community that came together for PiBoIdMo this year – cheers to Tara Lazar!!  I only hope we can take your good work and keep the home fires burning at least until next November.

Just as with other challenges, like PiBoIdMo and NaPiBoWriWee (National Picture Book Writing Week), so long as you are willing to do your best, you are welcome to join us.  In the end, it doesn’t matter if you have 12, 4 or even 1 PB drafted if you’ve gotten more accomplished by being in the group than by going it alone.  There will be a winner badge, of course, for those who make it to 12 or more, but the idea is that we support, encourage, and help each other throughout the year as we try to put flesh on the bones of those PB ideas.  My own personal goal is to draft 18 PBs between this challenge and NaPiBoWriWee, but I know it’s a tall task.  I also know it will be easier with others with me.

As an added incentive to join the challenge, I will be running guest posts on the blog from experts in the field along with a special giveaway each month.  My general plan is to run guest posts on the first of each month, and draw a winner of each month’s giveaway on the last day of the month.  However, I want to leave myself wiggle room in case I need to change some of the parameters.  Bear with me, as this is the first challenge of this type that I’ve run on my blog, so there’s a learning curve for sure.

I want to give a huge round of thanks to Linda Silvestri, the immensely talented illustrator who donated her talents to create our participant badge.

Now, what do you have to do to join, you ask?  First, you must sign your name in blood and send it to me at…  Just kidding! No, there are two mandatory steps and three optional, listed below:

1. Follow this blog. (Mandatory) If you are a new follower, please specify how you follow in the comments (RSS, email, etc.)

2. Complete the following form indicating you are taking the 12 x 12 challenge (Mandatory)  SIGN-UP FOR THE 12 x 12 in 2012 IS NOW CLOSED.

3. Please paste the 12 x 12 badge (courtesy of Linda Silvestri) on your blog (if you have one) with a link back to this post.  (Optional) I would also love it if you would consider blogging about the challenge and again providing a link back to this post.

4. Join the 12 x 12 in 2012 Facebook Group (Optional) Please note you must be an official 12 x 12 in 2012 participant in order to be admitted into the Facebook group. (Optional)

5. Participate in Twitter discussions throughout the year using the hashtag #12x (Optional)

That’s all folks! I hope to see lots of you here! Can’t wait to get started!! If you have other questions or comments, please leave them in the comments below.

  1. Julie, I think this is a fantastic idea – I’m in!!

  2. I’m in! And look at you all fancy-schmancy with the Google Docs form! *scribbles idea…totally steals it for next year*

    • It’s funny you mention that Tara. It took me ALL DAY to figure out how to do that. I almost can’t wait until my kids get old enough to figure out how to do all this stuff for me. 🙂

I’m so honored to have you in the challenge! PiBoIdMo has meant so much to me the past couple of years. I feel I am following in giant shoes… Really!

  3. Thanks for taking this on, Julie. I can’t wait to get more done in 2012 than in all other years combined!

  4. Thanks, Julie! I wrote 8 new manuscripts using PiBoIdMo ideas last year during Paula Yoo’s challenge, and can’t wait to see what happens when I try both 1st draft manuscript challenges this year. Thanks to Tara and PiBoIdMo, I have tons of ideas to start fleshing out by January!

  5. I’m so in! – Follows, Facebooks, Tweets and about to fill out the super dooper form.

  6. Thanks for doing this, Julie! I ended up with tons of ideas from PiBoIdMo and even put a few of them into rough draft but want to work on some others that are tugging at me to be fleshed out and this will be the perfect vehicle to do that…so…I’m in!!

    • I forgot to say that I will follow you on Facebook, Twitter and through email. Am really looking forward to seeing how my story ideas come out

  7. Me too! I’m so delighted to keep the momentum going with this wonderful group. Thank you for creating this, Julie! This will keep me on task and feeling less alone with this wonderful work. (I assume this is the ‘form’ I’m supposed to fill out?) I’ll be looking for your posts in my e-mail in-box!
    Many thanks!

  8. I think I already signed up for this at the beginning of the month. Apologies if I’ve sent duplicate info. Following your blog by email. And looking forward to the challenge!

  9. Thanks Julie,
What a great way to continue the flow that we started with Tara. I actually just wrote Dec 1 in my notebook with a few more PB story ideas…now to flush some of them out with your challenge.

  10. I am looking forward to this opportunity to keep the momentum. I wrote my ideas in a compact notebook easy to take with me on errands during PiBoIdMo. I am now transferring them to an easy to edit format, prioritizing them and generally getting all my ducks in a line before January 1st. You’ve given me additional reason to get the job done.

  11. I’m definitely in, Julie. This is such a great idea! Thanks so much for thinking it up and organizing it. I think feeling that we’re working in a supportive community of other writers with the same frustrations and goals will be so nice! As you know, I’ve followed you for a while, and I’ve already joined the FB page. I posted my blog and I don’t do twitter, so I think I’m all set. Looking forward to seeing the badge and the start of the challenge – maybe we should have a launch party 🙂

  12. I am so excited that you are doing this! It is exactly the challenge I need. I am following you on Twitter and GoogleReader and joining the FB group. FYI my name is complicated; I use my pen name Andromeda Jazmon on FB and my “real” name on Twitter: Andi Sibley. Sorry to be confusing!

    • Hi Andromeda/Andi! so glad you are joining us!! Just wanted to let you know that I didn’t see your name on the Google doc, so if you haven’t done so already, please fill that out and submit. I’m trying to use that as the “master” list since I know not everyone will join the FB group. Thanks!

LOVE the pen name, btw! 🙂

  13. Hey, Julie, I would love to join but if there is a form I need to complete I don’t think I’m seeing it in your post. Help! ;0)

    • Donna, see Mona’s response below. It shows up on my version of the post. If for some reason you still can’t get to it, just email me the information at jhedlund33 at yahoo dot com and I’ll add you manually.

  14. Donna,
I think I got on the site then scrolled down a bit and there’s a PB Bear on the right. Cursor it and i believe it will come up.

  15. WOOOO, this is going to be fun! I’ll be following via the click button “follow this blog” as well as via Facebook, Twitter and emial! Thanks very much for putting this together!!!

  16. This sounds like fun. I’m in, too. Following by email.

  17. I can’t wait! Let’s go! Well, I CAN wait until after the holidays….

  18. Julie, I would like to follow via email just the monthly guest speakers if possible. thanks! I will check into fb regularly.

    • Jeannie – there’s no way to follow the blog only for the guest posts, but I’ll put you in the facebook group and you’ll see them there.

  19. i’m in with you alll too! I have the first drafts written for about 28 stories from piBoIdmo this month… I used nanowrimo as my incentive to do so, but I’ll still work on more stories for next year. This is great and so great to have others working right along with us.

    Denise of Ingleside, PEI

  20. I’m in! This sounds great. I work better with the accountability so thanks for providing it, Julie. Plus, it was a lot of fun doing #PiBoIdMo with everyone’s comments on the facebook page.
BTW, I followed your blog by clicking on the button in the lower right corner (email).

  21. I’m in–thanks to Tara and #PiBoIdMo, I have three YEARS’ worth of ideas gathering dust. 🙂

    Thanks for organizing this!

  22. I’m in! I’m spending today organizing my ideas from PiBoIdMo. Then on to the drafts. Thanks so much Julie!

  23. This is going to be great, Julie! Thanks so much for a) thinking up the idea and b) putting it into practice. When you first mentioned it, I thought “no way can I do that” — but then, I’d never have believed that at the end of one month (one month!) I’d have 32 ideas clamoring to become picture books. With the accountability and community built in to 12X12, the cream of those 32 ideas will have a good chance of rising to the top.

Thanks! (I’ve been following your blog for a while now, by email. Just got the message that I’ve been accepted into the Facebook group, I’ll be blogging on Monday about this fantastic way to follow up PiBoIdMo, I’m looking forward to the logo, and want to note that although my blog is elizabethannewrites, my twitter is @lizannewriting, because that’s as close as I could get!)

  24. Awesome idea. Can’t wait to start the challenge!

  25. Sounds excellent! Count me in. 🙂
(I’m following your blog on google reader.)

  26. Count me in! Thanks Julie for organizing this =)

  27. You are brilliant, Julie! Looking forward to another wonderful challenge! 🙂

  28. Penny Klostermann

I just signed up! I’m following by email & Google Reader. Thanks so much!

  29. Definitely count me in!!

    Thanks, Julie!

  30. I’m IN! I’m a middle grade writer, but have a few picture book drafts I’ve wanted to work on forever. This is so inspiring – thanks. I can’t wait to learn from all the participants.

FYI – I follow via RSS.

  31. Julie, I just signed up. I also became a follower of your blog last week and I get your posts by email. Thank you so much for setting this up! Having a definite goal and achievable checkpoints is what I need!

  32. So excited for this, it’s gonna be a lot of fun! I just signed up for your blog through email and signed up for the challenge. 🙂

  33. Excited! Committed, serious, and above all delirious with anticipation to join this 12 x 12! Julie, thanks for doing this! I’m following by email (where previously I just had you in my “favorites”) and about to join the Facebook group. Love the energy and eager for the challenge! Whee!!!

  34. Love this! Just the motivation I need, thank you so much. I’m now following by email. Best of luck to everyone joining the challenge!

  35. *waving* New follower here. And count me in, for sure! I am totally committed to this. Thanks so much for organizing it. *floating on air* 🙂

  36. Oops. I forgot to say I am following by email. 🙂

  37. Exciting! I’ll be following the blog via FB’s Networked Blogs. I can’t wait to see what you have in store, and what comes of my PiBo ideas. 🙂

  38. Best of luck with the challenge.

  39. I’m in, God help me! I’ll be following by e-mail.

  40. I’m in. Thanks for organizing this challenge – I’ll be following by email as well.

  41. Count me in! I will be following by Networked blogs and RSS feed.

  42. I am so glad you posted this challenge. Once you have that badge I will get it up on my blog! Love it, thanks!

  43. Hands down . . . I’m in 😀

  44. I am following by email and looking forward to the challenge!!!

  45. Thanks Julie. Not sure if I will finish, but its definitely worth a try.

  46. I’m very excited to join this challenge as a follow-up to PiBoIdMo! Accountability is exactly what I need to sit down at the computer and write. It’s tempting to think the perfect MS will just spill out, but i’ve got to put in the time. Thanks for coming up with this great concept! I’m following on Google Reader, email, and will join the Facebook group.

  47. I would like to try it even if I just make one book! I’ll try my best 🙂

  48. Hi everyone! I didn’t get a chance to respond to each of your comments, but I want you all to know how much I appreciate you and how much I am looking forward to this challenge. YOU are the ones that motivate ME!

I will truly do my best to make this as fun and rewarding as possible. Please feel free to make any suggestions, share ideas, etc. for how this could be even better. I think of this as OUR group rather than my group! 🙂

  49. I’m in! Following by email. I filled out the super cool form, and am excited for the FB group. The PiBoIdMo FB group has been so fun!

  50. I am following the blog via email and looking forward to a productive 2012. Can’t wait to hear about and share some 12 x 12 success stories!

  51. Scary, daunting, WAY FUN. Can’t wait. Perfect timing to not get in a slump after an amazing November! Thanks for this. Cheers to 2012!

  52. Just realized I am in but hadn’t officially signed here! The FB group is going to be great for encouragement and accountability.

  53. Okay. I’m a follower via facebook networked blogs.

  54. This is JUST what I need. Thank you and excited about 2012!! I will follow via FB and your blog.

  55. I signed up with the form here and followed the blog, facebook, and twitter. Great way to focus in on our writing in the new year.

  56. Margaret Greanias

This will be such a great motivator. Thank you! I will follow via FB and I just subscribed to your blog.

  57. I just signed up and tweeted about 12×12. 😀

  58. wow! I am wondering what I have done, being here. But I do know its the right decision, and the kick-in-the-pants I will need, to make those wonderful ideas come to fuition. I benefited so much from PiBoldMo and am so pleased you are doing this.

  59. Oh my goodness, Julie, this is so tempting, but pic books aren’t my strongest genre. At all! They’re challenging for me, but I do love them. I’m going to give this some thought and maybe come back and sign up. I don’t want to spread myself too thin, but this sounds like lots of fun in addition to lots of work!

  60. Great idea Julie. This is the perfect challenge for me. Baby madness put a damper on my writing this year. BUT I am ready to jump back in. You are awesome for pulling this together. Looking forward to a great year!

  61. This is just what I need, Julie, to keep me on a roll…thanks for the invite! Is just leaving a comment here signing me up for the 12×12 challenge? Let me know if there is something else to do other than join the group on Facebook…see you there!

  62. I’m in! I was just trying to think of a new writing challenge for myself. Great idea.

  63. I took the plunge and signed up. Also posted on my blog today. Don’t have twitter. Have to do something with the 35 ideas I came up with!

  64. A splendid idea–more inspiration and motivation to keep me imagining stories and writing them! I follow blog by email.

  65. Well, I was not able to come up with 30 pb ideas during November, but I did come up with about six. This challenge should get me writing them out and coming up with some more ideas! 🙂 Happy Writing everyone!

  66. OK. I failed PiBoIdMo by only getting sixteen ideas total for the month. I would love to join in the fun but because I don’t have twelve ideas I can’t honestly join the 12X12 challenge. So sad.

Congrats everyone for winning the PiBoIdMo challenge and joining the 12X12 challenge! I’ll be watching you. 🙂

    • Are you sure you can’t use 12 of your 16 ideas for 12×12? I ‘failed’ PiBoIdMo, too – only got 18 ideas – but even if I don’t use 12 of those ones, I’m sure I can come up with some others over the course of the year.

      • I don’t think completing the PiBoIdMo challenge is necessary for joining this challenge. Most of my PiBoIdMo ideas are probably not worth making into picture books. We have a year to think of 12 stories, and it doesn’t matter when we get them. The worst that can happen is you won’t get 12 books written, but you probably will get some written, and that will be some more than you have now. Go for it!

  67. Hi, Julie! I am definitely IN! Thank you for starting this-this is just the kind of structure I need to keep me focused and inspired. I have been following your blog through my WordPress blog account. 🙂

  68. I’m a new follower; just signed up to receive e-mail notifications. Look forward to being an active participant in 12×12 – just the motivation I need to move ahead with my picture book ideas!

  69. I am going to try this. PiBoIdMo was an amazing experience for me this year and I really want to see what I can do with the story ideas I have. Life may get in the way, but if thiskidreviewsbooks can try to “just make one book”, then I can too. 🙂
    Thanks, Julie.

  70. I’m not technologically savvy enough to add to the Twitter discussions but I will certainly follow your blog as well as the Facebook page. Thanks for organizing this, Julie!

  71. I’m subscribed via email 🙂 Love this idea.

  72. Wonderful idea!! Just what I need to push me to complete some of those ideas that have been brewing…Thanks for doing this for all of us!

  73. This is perfect! I’ve got a prizing winning case of “end of PiBoIdMo blues” 🙂
I’ll be following your blog via email… Thanks for providing this continuing inspiration and support.

  74. OK – I’m game. I survived PiBoIdMo “boot camp” so I’ve got enough ideas….. but do I have the necessary discipline? Well, as they say: No Guts, No Glory. So, Julie, scribble my name on your roster and I’ll turn out for inspection on Jan 2.

  75. I am IN. What perfect timing on the heels of the November challenge. I am definitely one who needs the occasional push, so thank you for offering such a fabulous butt-kicking service! Cannot wait to get started.

  76. Perfect timing! I’m invigorated by the success of having virtual company to help me complete the PiBoIdMo challenge. Thanks for offering the challenge, the framework, and the company to make my annual writing resolution a reality this new year.

  77. Welcome to all newcomers! We’ve had quite a few over the past few days. If you’re on Facebook, come join us there too!

Starting to get things ready and getting more and more excited!

  78. Definitely count me in 🙂

  79. Just the kick I need…deadlines to keep me going and a super group of talented folks to help. Thank you, Julie! I’ll be following you through my blog.

  80. Yay! Another insane challenge! I am SO in.
    Thanks for the motivation.
    I’ll follow through email.

  81. Hi Julie, I have joined up now, hope I have done it correctly (via e-mail subscription). Looking forward to being involved in my 2nd ever writing challenge after PiBoIdMo!

  82. Hi Julie, I’m pretty sure I already signed up and posted here (and I’m already part of the FB group), but I don’t see my comment. Just to be safe, I filled out the form (again?) and have been following your blog via email subscription. Sorry if this is a duplicate!

  83. This is something I stopped doing… I have a file box of ideas sitting somewhere…. So I’m excited to have to motivation to start fresh. I may revisit some ideas, they may get new twists.
I hope this will will motivate me by joining this challenge,. Great idea thanks, I’m following the blog by email.

  84. I’m in. Yikes. Fun and scary. I hope I don’t embarrass myself!

  85. I, Elizabeth Stevens Omlor, do admit that I have forgotten if I signed up or not. When you have a chance, would you be able to check to see if I am on the list? Thanks so much. =)

  86. Okay, All of this is new to me 🙂
I think I signed up correctly….now what do I do?
Anyone have any tips on how to proceed?
Where should I post my stories/ideas

    • Kathy,

We are on the honor system here. You don’t need to post your stories or your ideas to the blog (although you are welcome to share in the Facebook group). I will be posting in a couple of days with more information about how the challenge will work in terms of prizes, etc. Glad to have you on board!

  87. Hello Julie

  141. Following you on networked blogs and found you on twitter. I’m working on getting the logo on my blogs.

  142. Thanks for organizing this. I participated in a picture book draft writing challenge organized by Shevi Arnold in 2007 an 2009, where we had to write a picture book draft every week by Monday at midnight for the first six months of the year, January to July. One of my 2007 drafts was the beginning of a book that was published this year, It’s Tot Shabbat from Karben/Lerner.
I’m happy to have the opportunity to do this again, with a different rhythm…

  143. Following via email. Very excited about this! Just the boost I need for the new year! Thank you for organizing this, and let me know if I can be of help.

  176. I’m in! I just found your blog and I love this inspiring idea. So glad to be a part! I’m following via email.

  177. Wow! I love this challenge. I was trying to get motivated this year and I know that the 12×12 Challenge will get me going. I am subscribing to you via RSS feed and asked to be part of the 12×12 Facebook Group.

  178. I just came across this challenge via facebook and love it. So perfect for my big plan for 2012. Hopefully it will be a brilliant motivator. I’m signing up as we speak!

  179. Count me in. I’ll be writing a ton of stuff for school anyway, might as well make one a month a picture book, right?

  180. So excited to participate in this challenge! Wondering if there is a html code for the badge or if I should just double-click download the image? Thanks!

    • Jen, there is no html code. Just download the image, and if you would, put a link back to this post when you put it on your blog. Thanks!

  181. I’m in. Great way to start off the new year!

  182. Hi, Julie. I signed up and am following the blog via e-mail (I think). That is, I clicked the “Follow” button and have received a confirmation e-mail. Now taking a deep breath in case I sink as I attempt to tread water….

  183. Stephanie Stussman

This is a great tool for forcing me to sit down and create! Thanks!

  184. I just signed up and added your blog to my Google Reader. I think I might be signed up via email, too. Either way, I’m following!

  185. YAY! I am so excited I just noticed your badge on Robyn’s blog. I would have been heartbroken if I’d have missed this!! So excited. Following you now.

  186. Oops, forgot to tell you how I followed. I plugged you into my PB blog roll on my site as well as Networkblogs.

  187. Hi Julie, Wonderful to have the energy of PiBoIdMo stretched across the whole year. Great idea. I’m following by email.

  188. I am so grateful to you and this particular challenge. This is my first time participating in something like this. I am NEW to the writing game. However, I’ve been reading the posts on 12×12 on Facebook and have gained a bit of courage. Courage that I never thought I’d have. I hope to have twelve pieces of work. Nevertheless, I feel like such a winner already. So thank you very much. I’ve subscribed to your blog through email.

  189. Hi Julie,
Thanks for creating this op for PB writers. This is just what I need :-). I participated in PiBoIdMo last month and this offers the perfect *next step* for the pile of ideas I’ve created. BTW, if you see that I’m already on the roster, my apologies. I had signed up before the end of 2011 but I think I did it wrong as I simply commented on your blog at the time. If I need to do anything else to be a full-fledged participant (besides write my stories) please let me know.
    Thanks, again!
    🙂 Edna

  190. Hi this sounds great, but would it be ambitious for a stay-at-home mum who’s never done a picture book but would like to start somewhere? Would love some advice/opinion! 🙂

  191. Hi Julie – Okay! Here I go! I presented at a school yesterday and the children kept asking about my own works in progress. I felt like I was lying through my teeth to even speak of them as they seem so far away from finished first drafts. This is just the boost I need to keep me honest. Thank you!

  192. OOps – p.s. – following you via email. – Pierr

  193. Reblogged this on jerryrexwriting and commented:
So, I’ll be trying this out, and already brainstormed on a couple ideas! Hope this is motivation for me this year!

  194. I’m looking forward to the challenge and the accountability! I follow through email… Thanks!

  195. Thanks for the encouragement. Will be following via email.

  196. Julie, I’m sure I signed up for the challenge but never got a confirmation on that. I did get a confirmation that I am a follower of your blog. Is that all we should expect in way of 12×12 reply? How would I know I signed up for challenge successfully? (I have been known to be a few clicks short of a full load.)
    Damon Dean. – SevenAcreSky

  197. Hi Julie,
I’m excited to be signed up for the 12×12 in 2012 Challenge! I’m following via email. Looking forward to a great year.

  198. just signed up to follow on e-mail, hope to be inspired

  199. Julie,
this is just what i need… a creative boost.
I may even begin a blog along the
    way… cheers to everyone!

  200. Hi! It’s me, Ty!
Mom & I are super pumped about this! Thanks for the invite!
We’ll blog on it & link back, too! Yippie!

  201. Hi! It’s me again, Ty!
Here’s the link to our blog post on 12 x 12 in 2012!

  202. Heard about the challenge after finding your blog through the Comment Challenge. It’s a daring step for me, but I just signed up and followed through Google Reader.

  203. This is very exciting!! Although I am an illustrator, I think this is going to be a great opportunity for me to write my ideas down on a piece of paper, at last!

  204. I’m a busy author/illustrator and moderator for a large on-line writers critique group. When you wear several hats, it’s hard to find writing time for yourself and I’ll admit that I’ve slacked off for quite a while in the writing department.

My hope is that this challenge will force me to set aside writing time, and be a positive force in my own crit group. I have asked my group members to sign up as well! Thanks for providing this inspiration. :o)

  205. Just sneaked in before the deadline 🙂 Am following by email. Thanks so much for organising. Looking forward to the challenge – it’s just the carrot & stick I need…

  206. Hi – so glad I found out about your blog and the contest from a friend during this weekend’s SCBWI conference this weekend….following the action via Google Reader.

  207. I’m following your blog through your ‘NetworkedBlogs’ link. Thanks for setting this up. It’s just the challenge I need!

  208. Looking forward to working on a lot of ideas this year! Thanks for the encouragement and for running this blog.

  209. I’ve been a silent voice for an eternity, hiding myself and my words in the confines of my home. I think your post held a lot of light for me, and I’m glad to have found the 12×12 in 12; thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

  210. Kathleen Cornell Berman

Thanks for providing the motivation I need. I’ve been dragging my pen too long.
    Looking forward to the challenge.

  211. it’s getting close…tonight is the sign up deadline. First dummy to be finished by Tuesday the 31st!

I AM signed up, right Julie?

  212. no blog but I’ve made the commitment public. check out my website:

  213. Good luck! Signed up and following via e-mail. Of course, now I have 2 days to write a draft… 🙂

  214. Done! thank you. I provided my email address, twitter and blog. YAY!

  215. Hi Julie, thanks for doing this! I am following through WordPress as I haven’t seen an email sign up yet. I need help getting the badge on to my blog…if you have some instructions somewhere I would love a nudge in that direction. As soon as I figure that out I’ll put up a post about it.

    • Go to widgets in your wordpress file, add a text widget, and then instead of text use an a href/imgsrc html tag to post the URL for the badge. That was a real pain to find on Google for some reason. Good luck!

  216. early morning silly question…….. hold on, let me sip a bit more coffee.
    sip. sip… sip.
    alright. i’m ready.
how do we go about finding a partner or group to critique
with? is this part of the 12×12 experience?

  217. the moment is near (tomorrow) . . . my manuscript is ready for our “SIXERS” critique group! ok, i have been making changes each day but I am prepared for my first ever critiquing group experience.
    whew. . .
I’ll be talking to a 5th grade class on Wednesday on the topic of being an author and the writing process. The 12×12 adventure will be perfect for sharing!
    cheers to everyone out there….

  218. Wonderful newsletter, Julie. This is a great place to grow as a writer and illustrator.
