HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Since it is the Year of the Snake, I thought I would share another illustration from A TROOP IS A GROUP OF MONKEYS, which *gasp* has been sent to Apple for approval and will be out any day now. If you want to buy it for a special below-retail price, sign up here to be a TROOPer and you’ll be notified the minute it hits the app store.
Quotes on Gratitude
“Ours is the responsibility to show our gratitude by the actions of our lives” — Thomas Monson
“Nothing new can come into your life unless you are grateful for what you already have.” — Michael Bernhard
“No matter what happens in a day focus on gratitude.” — Karen Salmansohn
Gratitude list for the week ending February 9
- Well, I actually got to see and play with TROOP! I approved the test build this week. What a thrill to actually see my “baby” right there on my iPad and be able to experience it in all of its fullness. I can’t wait to share it with the world!
- Likewise, hearing my kids ooo and ahh over it was worth whatever pain and suffering might be associated with this crazy career called writing.
- The top-secret project I mentioned last week has been green-lighted! There will be much more coming, but for now it’s enough to say that I’ll be publishing another one of my books — not in the app series — most likely in 2014.
- I’m going to New York today! And I get to stay with Katie Davis!! And attend the O’Reilly Author (R)evolution Conference!
- One night, as I was sneaking out of Jay’s room he shouted, “Mom!” I fully expected him to ask me for water or a bedtime snack, but when I said, “What is it honey?” he said, “I love you.”
Only 5 on the list today because I have to go catch my flight. Have a great week everyone!

I love everything about this post! Congrats on Troop being live soon, on the new secret project getting the green light, and everything else!
When my son or daughter does that, I melt. What a good boy you have.
Enjoy your trip to New York!
Thanks Tameri! I did melt, but fortunately not in the Wicked Witch of the West kind of way.
A wonderful list to be grateful for. Have a great trip and enjoy!
Julie,
I can’t wait for Troop. I can just see you smiling! How exciting. I’m really happy for you
Thank you Penny! Your enthusiasm for TROOP has made me so happy!
Congratulations! Love the quotes.Gratitude reason #2 made me laugh-my husband said last week to me, “Could you have picked a more difficult career choice?” ( in a purely observational tone as he is very supportive). I think I’m a serial hill climber since I was a pilot and horse trainer in my early careers.
Safe travels.
Congratulations Julie. You have much to be grateful for in the coming year! #2 is difinitely worth all the hard work! I look forward to seeing your Troop app.
Congratulations on all the items on the list. Your list, no matter how long or short, is a great reminder there is always time to be grateful.
Thanks @Pat and @Stacy!
There might only be 5 grateful statements, but they are so great that the value is triple. So, look at them as 15
Congrats on your wonderful week and your fantastic news. I can’t wait to hear more!
Aww, thanks Alayne! I see them as triple now too.
Congratulations Julie and much success with your TROOP app and new release. I guess it’s time that I buy an IPad! :0)
I am biased of course, but I do think you should buy an iPad! LOL I am absolutely in love with mine.
What’s better than the ambush I-love-you? Nothin’ – that’s what!
You’re right about that Genevieve!
Will your apps be available for smart phones or only ipads? Would love to “play” with your 2 apps!
Only for the iPad Tina – sorry!
What a sweet son! Enjoy your conference, Julie…I’m thankful for you and 12×12!
And I’m grateful for you too Jarm!
Awesome news and have fun with Katie, I bet that will be a blast!
Have a blast in NY Julie…great post, again. And that #5…it was a heart melter.
Can’t wait for Troop. And quiver is CERTAINLY a good group word for snakes!
–So MUCH to be grateful for. I LOVE Thomas S. Monson. He’s the Prophet/President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So I’ve definitely heard him say that a time or two.
–So exciting about your TROOP app coming to life. Too bad I don’t have an iPad. I may have to get one eventually.
–Have you been holding out on your critique group partners?! Another book being published?! NEED. MORE. DETAILS.
–Hope you have a safe and fun trip in New York at the conference.
