I wrote this poem in my head as I drove through the mountains today…

Aspen ablaze

Quaking with rage.

Soon it will be spent.

Leaves petal down

Soft, to the ground.

Down the river they went.

The tree stands bare,

Arms in the air,

Pleading with the sky.

Buried with snow,

Roots come aglow.

Earth has made its reply.

  1. What a wonderful time of year to drive through the aspens. Inspiration all around. 😀

  2. Lovely lines! 🙂 I love it when inspiration strikes when you least expect it!

  3. Thanks guys! I’m usually very shy about sharing poetry, so these comments are especially appreciated.

  4. Love the photo and the poem! Turning aspens against the deep green of the evergreens has always been one of my favorite things. 🙂
