Lynda Shoup is one of the nicest virtual friends I’ve had the pleasure to “meet” this past year.  We got to know each other last year during NaPiBoWriWee and caught up again last week for the 2011 version.  She recently bestowed upon me this award:

It came at a pretty ironic time because I have a terrible cold and am currently sporting sweatpants and a sweatshirt with my hair pulled back in a scrunchie.  Ordinarily I stay away from blogger awards just because I never have the time to “pass them on,” and I feel bad that by listing some, I skip over others that I also love.  However, this time the award really did boost my spirits so I figured it was time to join in.  The rules are to reveal 7 things about yourself that readers might not know and then to pass the award on to up to 15 bloggers whose blogs you enjoy.  So here goes.

7 Things You Might Not Know About Me (and that aren’t already listed on my 100 Random Things)

  1. I wish I would meditate every day.  I don’t know why I don’t.
  2. I will turn 40 later this month
  3. Surprisingly, I’m not upset about #2
  4. I’ve always fantasized about being an actress or a dancer (I have no talent at either)
  5. I once thought my car had been stolen, but really I had just forgotten where I parked it.
  6. I experience all five senses in my dreams – weird but true.
  7. I loved Charlotte’s Web so much as a child that I had a stuffed pig named Wilbur.  My mother sold it in a garage sale.  I’ve just barely forgiven her…

And now, onto some great blogs I think you will enjoy:

First up are three of my awesome critique partners who blog regularly.  Their blogs all have tons of great information!

  1. Alison Stevens
  2. Megan Bickel at The Write at Home Mom
  3. Christie Wild at Write Wild

Other virtual friends:

  1. Cheryl Reifsnyder at The Rich Writer
  2. Jean Reidy at A Totally Random Romp
  3. Ingrid Sundberg at Ingrid’s Notes
  4. Corey Schwartz at Thing 1 and Thing 2
  5. Julie Musil
  6. Catherine Johnson
  7. Katie Davis
  8. Nancy Hatch at Spirit Lights the Way

Eleven is probably enough for now, but I encourage you to check my blogroll for more ideas.  I read each and every one that is listed and enjoy them all.  Thanks again Linda!

  1. You deserve the stylish blogger award . . . even if you had to accept it in “casual” attire.

I wish I had the sense of taste in dreams . . . then I could enjoy pizza and fresh baked cookies without gaining an ounce. What a Dream Diet that would be.

Thanks for the link up and shout out! 😀

    • Nancy,

In theory, it’s great. Unfortunately it still is a dream so I don’t have control over what I taste and don’t.

  2. Congratulations on your award, and thanks so much for sharing it with the rest of us! It was fun learning more about you. I’ve never heard of someone dreaming with all five senses. How cool! And I’m so glad you’re not bothered by turning 40. I’ve convinced myself it’s the new 30. Or 20. Or 25 😀

    • Julie,

Sometimes dreaming in five senses is cool and sometimes not – like I said before. I would be great if I had control of the dream, lol!

I was much more upset about turning 30 than 40. I think it’s because as we get older we get more sure of ourselves and more happy with the way things are. Not as angsty.

  3. I’m like you on No. 2. and No. 3. Just glad to be happy and healthy. Congrats on the award and will check out some of the links.

    • Yes, and everyone should check out your blog too! This is exactly why I’m always hesitant to do these awards. It’s impossible to name everyone.

So – BIG HORN TOOT – Stacy’s blog is awesome, with lots of great insight on writing and life. Plus she’s a fellow Coloradan. Go check it out!

  4. Julie,
I relate to #5. I love how my car keys now allow me to open the trunk remotely. When I can’t find my car, I just hit the alarm and follow the sound. Can’t you just hear my family and friends rolling their eyes?

    I enjoyed your list.

  5. Congrats Julie, you deserve it. Thank you so much for passing it on to me. I totally agree about the missing people out thing and not having time to do it, so don’t know how long I’ll be holding onto mine 😛 I heart my blogger friends in my Friday Shout outs instead.

I can just picture you thinking your car’s stolen, too funny!

    • I will totally understand if you never pass it on. That’s precisely what I’ve done up to now.

Not only did I think the car was stolen, I filed a police report. My brother called it well before I did. Even more embarrassing? My then-boss took me driving around to look for it and we actually found it. He realized right away that I had forgotten where I parked it.

On so many levels, I will never live that story down, so I figured I might as well tell it.

  6. Thanks for the list of sites. I’ll be checking them out!

    ~Debbie

  7. Thanks, Julie! You are truly a stylish lady!! : )

  8. Thanks, Julie! I didn’t mind 40, but my most recent, 45, was a killer!

  9. NUmber 5 all the way! I have lost my car so many times. I just cannot focus on where I left it!

Maybe that’s the danger of being a writer…always thinking about something else.

    Shelley

  10. Congratulations on your award and to your lovely recipients.

I can commiserate with #5. I do that all the time.

  11. Thanks Julie! I’m not particularly regular in my blogging these days, but after the move, it’ll get better. Right?

My birthday’s coming up this month, too. Hmm. Have to compare dates. 🙂
